Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a free, voluntary family support and education program that empowers parents and caregivers to give their children the best possible start in life. The program is built on the belief that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, and that the early years are critical to lifelong learning, health, and success.

PAT provides families with the knowledge, resources, and encouragement they need to support their child’s healthy growth and development from prenatal through kindergarten entry.

Program Services

Certified Parent Educators work with families through four key components:

  • Personal Home Visits – One-on-one visits that provide guidance on child development, parenting strategies, and school readiness.
  • Parent Group Meetings – Interactive sessions where parents connect with other families while learning about child development and positive parenting practices.
  • Developmental and Health Screenings – Regular screenings to help monitor your child’s growth, development, hearing, vision, and overall well-being.
  • Community Resources and Referrals – Connections to local services and programs that support families and children.
